There are about 5 million professional photographers in the world. How do you pick the right one? Well, you have to like their work - simple as that. But every photographer has their own style and way of getting those shots, and that little detail can be crucial to making sure you feel comfortable on your wedding day.

Because I would love for you to choose me (and let’s be honest, I also need to fund my rambunctious lifestyle), I’m going to walk you through the most important points of my work. By the end, you hope you will be dying to say, “Pokémon, I choose you!”

Are you shy and hate posing?

I get it. Not everyone feels as natural in front of a camera as, say, Beyoncé. Luckily for you, I’m a documentary wedding photographer. That’s a fancy way of saying I won’t drag you around by the sleeve or force you into awkward poses that don’t suit you. I will capture candid moments without you even realizing I’m there. I won’t interfere with the ceremony or any other part of the day unless it’s necessary (like for group photos) or you specifically request it. You can ignore me, and you will still end up with pictures that make grandma cry tears of joy.

Forget I am there!

Documentary wedding photography is about authenticity. Seen a trendy Instagram shot you love? I can do it. But I don’t chase trends. I want your photos to feel timeless - the kind you will love even when Instagram is a digital fossil. To get there, everything in the frame has to be real. If I had studied at Hogwarts, I would pick the invisibility cloak. Since that’s not an option, I bring a quiet camera, blend into the crowd, and let your wedding day unfold naturally. You celebrate. I disappear. The photos stay honest.

Want a stress-free wedding?

I’m not a wizard who can stop your best man from losing the ring during a wild bachelor party, nor can I save your dress from a hungry neighborhood dog. But I will hand you a chilled beer when it’s boiling outside, help carry your veil, and even offer a little TLC if you trip and scrape your knee. There’s zero judgment here - I am a pretty chill guy, and you can talk to me about anything. Plus, I have been married a whole year, so I’m basically an overflowing fountain of marital wisdom. Want beautiful photos?

That’s a given. Even though I sound like a bit of a goof on my website, I’m a total pro when it counts, and I will do everything I can to make you happy. You hired me, and I will be there for you. If you love candid moments but still want a few posed pics to wow your friends (and your future kids), no problem. I will even Photoshop out that pesky pimple that popped up from all the pre-wedding stress (twenty pounds off is however beyond my capabilities - sorry, folks).

Getting married in Prague?

And struggling to find someone who understands you? Well, you’re in luck! I was born and raised in Czechia, but after spending 10 years working abroad, English feels like second nature to me. Meeting people from different cultures genuinely energizes me and while I’m usually based around Prague, I’m more than happy to travel a bit if you have got something special planned - just say the word! My rates are listed at the bottom of the page. I promise I won’t break the bank and you might still have enough left over for a fancy floral armchair.

We meet - online or in person, your call.

We sign a contract (it protects both of us).

Once you pay the deposit, I’m legally locked in for your date.

I show up on your wedding day and do my thing.

Within 3 days, I will send at least 10 great photos, so you can rock Instagram.

You pay the remaining balance.

Within 2 weeks, you will receive the complete gallery - both in color and monochrome.

About me

I speak English (surprised, after reading all of this?).

I will look spiffy, so your guests’ eyes don’t bleed - but not so dashing that I outshine the groom. No need to worry about me showing up looking like a slob doing my morning beer run (I hardly ever do those anyway).

Good vibes come standard; I won’t be that grumpy person no one wants to stand next to. I will even crack a joke or two when the mood is right.

I will do my best to accommodate your needs throughout the wedding - it’s your day, and I’m there as a total professional.

I deliver photos in high-res .jpeg files (about 5000+ px on the long side), so they’re perfect for printing.

Double backup of your photos for as long as I’m in business (in .jpeg formats) for crystal-clear prints.

I use two cameras. The chance both crash and burn is near zero. Also, they are weather-sealed, so a bit of rain isn’t a problem.

With your permission, I may use a few of your best shots for my personal promotion on my website, social media, or in contests. If it’s a nudist wedding, don’t worry - I won’t post those anywhere! If you are camera-shy and don’t want your photos public, just tell me upfront. I will be sad (clients choose me based on reference pictures like yours), but I will respect it.

Can we drop the formalities? I’m not 80 - first names are cool.

What is documentary wedding photography?

Documentary wedding photography is a style that captures your wedding naturally - no staged poses, no artificial interruptions, no awkward directing. As a documentary wedding photographer, I focus on atmosphere and unstaged moments that truly reflect your wedding day as it actually happened. Real emotions. No dragging you around. No fake laughing. No staged nonsense. The big advantage of this approach is that you can completely ignore me and I will still deliver fantastic photos. You enjoy your wedding. I quietly do my thing.

What’s the difference between a documentary and a traditional photographer?

A traditional wedding photographer organizes scenes and guides couples into specific poses. They move people. Recreate moments. Sometimes they basically co-produce the wedding to get a better shot. The documentary approach is the exact opposite. I observe, anticipate, and capture the real flow of the day without interfering. The result are photos that look like your wedding - not a styled workshop pretending to be one. I know where to be and when to be there - without you having to perform, act, or fake anything - and yet still walk away with beautiful images.

Do you photograph weddings all over the Czech Republic?

I’m a Prague-based documentary wedding photographer working across the Czech Republic, including: Prague, Brno, Karlovy Vary, Cesky Krumlov, Kutna Hora, Hluboka nad Vltavou, Lednice, Plzen and Olomouc, but I’m happy to travel almost anywhere, including smaller towns. I am also a European destination wedding photographer (on demand).

Who is the documentary style for?

Documentary photography is perfect for couples who want authentic wedding photos without spending hours posing. If you want to fully enjoy your wedding day, not spend three hours getting staged shots, and still have beautiful, natural memories - this is for you. And if you would still like a few staged portraits? We can do them in 20 minutes. I will guide you in a relaxed, effortless way so it looks amazing without feeling artificial. I don’t avoid posed photos. I just don’t build the entire day around them (unless asked to, like for example here).

How does the wedding meeting work?

Whether we meet in person (usually Prague) or online (Google Meet), its both pretty straightforward. No homework required. No 17-page questionnaire. You won’t be stuck with me for more than 20 minutes. I will mostly ask about basic logistics and your vision - number of guests, timeline, expectations. And even if you don’t have every detail figured out yet, I can adapt and still deliver great work.

How many photos will we receive and when?

The number of photos depends on the package you choose (see details above). Typically, I deliver between 100 and 500 edited images and every selected photo comes in both color and B&W. I usually shoot from 3,000 to 5,000 images during a 10-hour wedding day. Up to 90% of them are carefully culled during post-production - because no one needs 30 versions of grandma blinking slightly differently. A wedding album fits about 60 images - and if your photographer knows what he’s doing (like me), that’s more than enough to tell your wedding story entirely. You will receive your gallery within two weeks after the wedding.

How do we book our wedding date?

The best way is to email me at m.spiryt@gmail.com or use the contact form on the website (I usually reply within a single day). Popular dates (like 6.6.2026) tend to be booked out far in advance. On the other hand, many couples wait until the last minute, so we might still find a date even two weeks before your wedding. Extras

I’m happy to design wedding photo books, canvases, prints, and other goodies, so you don’t have to stress. I use Saal-Digital - prices are transparent on their site. If I shot your wedding, the book design is free. The top package includes one finished photo book already (printing + delivery included).

I have a digital Instax Mini EVO camera you can borrow for free while I’m around - just bring your own film.

Travel up to 100 km (including Prague) is on me. After that it’s €0.30 per km.

Want a second shooter? That’ll add 30% to any package. Twice the camera angles, double the fun!

I usually don’t deliver unedited digital negatives (.raw), but if that’s something you really want, let’s talk.
